Flooded acres question ?????

Between flooded acres already seeded and unseeded acres, is Sask in worse shape than 2010, 2011 ?? This is a possible train wreck, no? June is just a few days away. This seems too be a much bigger area than either year, possibly both combined ??

Personally, I am in better shape than
2010, worse than 2011. Some guys here have
yet to start, some guys I figure may be
half. I am curious at the responses here
as well, as yes it seems the area may be
larger. One thing I do know, time is
running out from a yield perspective, a
crop choice perspective etc...

We realy need better weather forecasting models here in Canada. The U.S. one I follow was calling for a very wet May for southern Sask back on the 26 th April when I seen it develeping on their outlooks. I stated it on the 26th when I seen it, check my post "Wet May" from the 26th april. But what does this dumb farmer know.
Enviro Canada and the millions of tax payer dollars is good for 6 hrs out at best - pathetic.

Well good post as those in Alberta and
Manitoba say Im always killing a crop!
No its reality what is happening again
this year.
Were 61% Sat. Tried what a joke.
Finished the two we were working on and
tried starting two new ones. Canola on
HRS stubble, that drill got 200 ft and
pulled anchor and went home! Second was
on Kelly Disced ground and seeded 100
acres before it rained us out.
I agree on one thing furrow. Cold WEt
Weather is not a recipy for success.
Our canola is exactly 60% of what we
planned to seed. With yesterdays storms
we will loose 10% from flooded areas
that now have water sitting on top of
seeds. They will rot!
21 mill minus 10% is 18.9 take away .9
for flooding and lost crop multiple by
average yield and Oh were bellow the
MAgic number!!!!!!!!!! Charlie you say
worry about the yield number IS a 13.5
crop in the cards.

33% done here, canola by air only works if you have a way to get fertilizer down otherwise forget it.

And it only works if the soil dries out
after. When it has no air, forget it as
well. Canola needs NPKS in a good ratio.
It is hard to get P in particular in a
good place for canola to uptake...

At the same time, with decent coverage
for canola under crop insurance, it must
not be off the table. Better than the 70
dollar kick in the ass for not being
able to seed.

I am in way better shape than 2010. Not as good as 2011. Done seeding, 2.8 inches in the last week. We have enough rain. Mudded in last half of canola, not sure if it will make it, peas are up and not sure if they are liking the mud much. Area is 75% done, 2010 area was about half done when we flooded.

NE of Regina...some done but many with 10% - 20% yet to go (probably canola/HRS). 2" in April since Easter, 3.7" in May and we were wet (other than topsoil) going into spring as all low spots were full. Creek is running faster now than during melt. My guess is better than 2010 but worse than 2011. We are losing acres (5%) as water seeps from one pot hole to the next. Need heat right away or those areas will be lost.

FWIW, Sask Ag says as of May 21 that 64% of crop seeded, compared to 23% last year and 44% for 5 yr average.

It depends on your crop insurance coverage for
Canola. Some are guaranteed big bucks, all they
need is germination.
