The Sask Chamber of Commerce was put in their place by a letter sent to (no doubt) all RM's by the provincial government.
In a pure political tone; the provincial government made it clear that the Chamber and of course NDP members were the only bodies suggesting any possible "forced amalgamation" in Sask.
It is insinuated that everything is going 100% right in municipal politics and councils are assured that under Brad Walls watch there will be no pressure to change municipal boundaries.
Nothing like sticking your heads in the sand. And its exactly what SARM wants to hear.
Well here is a call for a round of applause for the Sask Chamber of Commerce. At least there is some recognition that change should be seriously considered. Being that its over a hundred years with next to no change; maybe its time for boundaries to be be shaken up a lot.
There are reasons why rural municipal government is not working as it was meant to.
And then there is cheap political pandering.
