    Malt Prices

Just wondering what others are seeing for malt prices. From what I have
seen they have gone up a little with this last rally but not nearly what
other commodities have. I can price some now with an AOG for $5.28 oct
delivery, not nearly a good enough price IMO.

And before Burbert or other boardies comment on how we should have the
    board to save us, STFU.

This price was based out of Watrous

Given what's happening with feed prices, i
think the maltsters are either asleep at
the wheel, or very conivingly awake. If
its close, i'd sell for feed just because
of the attitude out there right now.
      Others do the same?

Already contracted all of mine to a U.S. maltster.

I think Canadian maltsters are going to get a rude awakening when they have to start dealing with real world market forces. Burn me once, shame on you...

Charlie and others I am going to guess our feed prices will remain made in Canada. Malt may have to ration demand to keep the price up. The contracted malt will have to be price correct.

its gobermont controlled, under Ritz's big
fat F#$King thumb. Guessing u marketeers
should call him up and give him some more
advice ta save the Comedian maltie system,

Contract without a price. What a novel
idea. Oh wait didn't the board do that for
70 years screwing every malt grower every
                    year?

Guess it will take a while before malt is
                    'normal'.

hopperbin, feed barley as available off the combine uk is £175/t which equates to $7/bu.?? i think
                      malt will be £200 plus
with all our wet weather and flat crops, quality is going to be difficuilt

Canadian maltsters, aided and abetted by
the CWB, have for years taken advantage
of the farmer. After a while they do
think we are stupid and it does take a
while to adjusted to the new reality.

Not sure if maltsters are stupid.
I don't see a clean arbitrage for malt barley.
Perhaps increasing faq malt demand, less high quality? More competition for bly supply? Less malt plants?
                          Feed @ bin $5.05 Malt $5.30 AOG
                          $5.50 no Act of God.
Apparently Vancouver malt mid $7 ?
Gut tells me they are playing chicken.
It'll hurt them in the end. Malt acres shrink = inelastic supply.
