Not sure if maltsters are stupid.
I don't see a clean arbitrage for malt barley.
Perhaps increasing faq malt demand, less high quality? More competition for bly supply? Less malt plants?

Apparently Vancouver malt mid $7 ?
Gut tells me they are playing chicken.
It'll hurt them in the end. Malt acres shrink = inelastic supply.

times 5.35. Oh well it's a starting point rest
unprimed, should be 6 to 7 sask.

Contracted all of our malt bly to US malster for $7.65/bus. delivered to US border which is 1 hour away.
