HGCA weekly market report
GB wheat area for harvest 2012 is estimated at
2.0Mha, an increase of 2% on 2011 according to the
AHDB/HGCA planting survey. GB crop areas were up
for all crops giving a 3% higher total cereal and
oilseed planted area of 3.83Mt. Please note OSR

tables. Tighter old crop supplies due to harvest
delays and quality concerns are evident in price gains
for pre-harvest delivery. Feed wheat for July delivery
in East Anglia was quoted at £220/t on Friday, up
£14/t on the week; milling premiums also increased.
Anecdotal evidence of imports into northern England
suggest that UK wheat is now priced at import parity.
Potentially impacting demand in 2012/13, the
Vivergo Fuels bioethanol plant at Hull has delayed
start-up to Quarter 4 2012 (previously Summer
2012), stating delays in the construction and
commissioning process.
Surprise, surprise the ethanol plant is delayed yet
again.
Lots of fusarium in all crops this year as all UK has
been very wet with very few dry days for 3 months.
Mycrotoxins will an issue I am sure and yields could
be seriously affected as forecast shows no
improvement .
