Ok Its the Thursday Crop Report! Im doing long weekends all summer!

Canola was going to move up with us
getting a 1.75 since last week but have
discovered Aster yellows in the Canola.
The area does have a few and its in
every variety. But later seeded does
look better. Time will tell.
So Canola is still a 7 maybe next week
will hit a 8 with heat all weekend.
Early seeded is starting to shut down in
our area. Roughly 21 days of flower.
HRS looks awsome. Thick big heads, (no
joke) 19 spikelets or less. Potential is
their with drowned out will average out
ok on not full fields.
Durum we are spraying prosario for
Fusariam. Heard the Davidson area has
issues in winter wheat, is it a rumor or
for real.
Oats looks good but only seeded on
quarter.
Barley coming into head looks good and
thick.
Peas HA HA hills are nice and tall thick
and pod well, Flooded areas are now a
green thin looking with one or two pods.
Oh well not good in water.
Flax that did get in looks really nice
and tall.
Soy is covered the ground and starting
to look good. I dont have but two
neighbors do. One flooding issues and
other on lighter rolly land.
So to sum up the week first 1 inch was
really nice and welcomed the sun to
tuesday mist could have stayed away.
Lodging happening where doubled up.
No hail in area, Touch wood. Local
Dealer is up in arms with Midge,
Agrologist was out and said its all ok.
Could do a light leaf disease and add
losban but not really a priority.
Flag leaf looks good in cereals.
Late canola is gaining fast.
What are others finding.

WET WEEK! Same old all season since 18" snow Apr 7. Nearly 4" in normally dry July. Rain taking grain. Spring potholes return every rain event. Tornadoes and T- storm floods in the NE. Rained this morning again.

Almost 3" of rain this week. Early seeded canola (majority) is winding down flowering and my neighbor (big guy) figures the canola doesn't look as good as last year and I agree. Significant Asters Yellows is easy to spot with a scan. My 50 bu hope is now down to 40 at best. HRSW looks really awesome....40 is still possible. Flax was clean and awesome but cleavers are taking over low spots. 30 bu hope is now down to 25. Lg green lentils look good with minimal disease so far but I need moisture stress to get them podding or they will be a disappointment. The stars that were lining up 2 weeks ago are beginning to scatter. Let's hope the prices stay strong. Banner year is looking more like a good year now.

Canola - approx. 86 lbs N, 18 lbs P, 23 lbs S on 46S53 at 4.5 - 5.3 lbs/ac with Seedhawk.
HRSW - approx. 80 lbs N, 10 lbs P, 15 lbs S on Lillian at 95 lbs/ac.
Lentils - approx. 15 lbs N, 15 lbs P, 15 lbs S on CDC Improve (CL) at 80 lbs/ac.
Flax - approx. 60 lbs N, 20 lbs P, 15 lbs S on Bethune at approx. 60 lbs/ac.
Sprayed both lentils and flax with Acapela.

What was looking like an above average crop is quickly becoming an average one. 2" of rain on Sunday-Monday filled all the low spots that just finished drying out. Yesterday afternoon 15 minute downpour and wind stripped flowers from early canola (30% bloom) and lodged about a third of the wheat (Unity). The heat last week hurt the early canola more than I thought, as there is not much of a root system, looks better from the road. Peas look very good 3' tall, just podding, pods indicate 5-8 peas/pod. The way the weather has been has me a bit spooked, don't know what to expect when harvest rolls around.

Hey Choice2U, is your unity lodging?
Mine is lodging at flowering, kinda
pathetic. On the other hand it is a
great looking crop. Unlike the other
comments, with the heat allowing the low
spots to kinda come back, and allow air
movement into the soil, my crops have
gone the opposite direction in the last
14 days, from quite poor, to half
decent. Wheat is very nice, canola is
here and there, with my best field
looking like 40, my worst 25. so kinda
not great, not many good canola crops
out here. My canary has real potential
after looking like crap until this week.

All in all, above average on the cereals
to below average, but what is average
anymore? lol All crops totally dependent
on the field they were on, what was
there last year, etc.. The low, flatter
high assessed black soil is poorer, the
higher, lower assessed dark grey soil,
with a bit of a roll to it for drainage
will shine yet again, as it does in
these wet years...

Crops were starting to come around a bit,before the last 3" of rain this week,best we can hope for now is average,but i doubt that will happen.It looks like combines and swathers will have duals on them this year to just try and get the crop off!!

Too wet. I will be lucky to get as much
canola as I did last year after 60% hail
damage, 20-24. Aster yelllows are
terrible, at least 5%. Cereals OK but
the flat land in the area is effed for
good now. If it fills 3 rows 55 if only
2 it will only be 35. Peas are starting
to flower from the bottom again, not
sure what that means but there is likely
already 40 sitting there. Lentils still
flowering a little but need alot more if
they are going to be anything special,
early call 20 but I'm pretty new at
lentils.

Just started swathing what looked to be our best
w.wht crop ever, but our fears came true, the heat
took its toll. Total chicken feed, have no idea how
we'll keep it in the combine. Be lucky to get 30 bu
of crap. Next year country here. South central mb,
near #1.

Would you agree that the STO farm man is a breathe of fresh air? (lol)

ND side is combining straw to 80 bushel winter wheat. There was very little durum seeded as they opted for fall ww, or hard spring. Low spots are getting swathed while higher ground is straight cut.
