2012 looks a lot like 1934. almost
suggests that weather and our economic
cycle is in-sync.

We have relatives in Southern MN and in 1934-36 it was so dry/hot the soil temps got up to 140-60 deg F and cooked many of the microbes in the soil. It took 2 years to rebuild the soil to where it could properly grow healthy crops again.
We would assume with reduced tillage that this will be less of a problem in 2012... the increased plant residue on the soil surface tends to reduce peak soil temps during the afternoon.
