There are people who will give you the big song
and dance about how wonderful they will treat
    you.

But they don't treat you wonderfully.

There are communist nations who tell you how
great they will be to you.

While they watch you starve. Pars.

Saying and doing are not the same.

Funny how the rhetoric between the "Wheaties" and the "Freebies" keeps going, even when it doesn't even matter anymore. The CWB is trying to exist in the free market with a new board, so the old board members opinion doesn't even count anymore. Other than if the Liberal's or the NDP ever form a government they will try reverse it if they can. Ken Larson's point...well so what, it's cheaper to let them go than prosecute them (and for Harper to do anything else would be political suicide). Frankly when the "arrests" were going on there were assholes on both sides those who wanted to be arrested to prove a point and those who wanted to do the arresting to prove a point. Funny how things never change there are still assholes on both sides and both sides are just as big morons as always. Debate is one thing but preaching rhetoric is not debate. I wish all the rednecks and all the lefties would take up boxing each other and do that instead of flapping their gums. It's not like you'd have to worry about brain damage, you need to have a brain for that to occur.

Without protest, dissent and arrests , change
would not have happened. Now would your wife
        be able to yet vote.

        When dealing with unreasonable governments
and institutions, knowing they will employ every
measure of force to maintain their powers,
morons and assholes, as you call them, such as
myself, can only resort to civil protest.

        The people jailed forced change.

And then there are those who slacked back and
        watched....... Right? Pars.

Why should we remain defensive? Because the
Mulcariata, would indeed, in the blink of an eye,
load up an opposition-paid-for-jet to North Korea,
to learn how to implement a well-practiced 'final
solution' for change-seekers like me. Pars

Larson makes a good socialist liberal. His main tool is deception, things that are true but not the truth. True the CWB did not jail farmers. Truth, the CWB was the cause of farmers being jailed as they not give export permits to the farmers without the payement of protection money. Farmers from Ontario were being given export permits without paying extortion. The CWB was the cause of the farmers being jailed. I am glad the monopoly is gone and look forward to when even the last hints of it disappear.

I realy dont give a shit who markets our grains but I will make a prediction some of you will live to regret when there is only one grain co to sell to,Its all got so big only the biggest will survive no more juniors will be able to start. So if you like Drifus or conagra or general mills sooner or later they will all belong to one enity. Its a little like buying a neqw pickup all 3 majors are owned by the same man in most communites (some choice).
I feel it is a little like our CO OP ass I dont think they do the best job but without them in the game we would all be paying a lot more and no choice.
If these conglomerates are so good why didnt they get in the game sooner ? Mabey because they didnt want to compete with CWB?

                    Horse:

"If these conglomerates are so good why didnt they get in the game sooner ? Mabey because they didnt want to compete with CWB?"

Selling against the 'single desk' of the CWB was irrational... as the CWB had no practical 'Cost of Sales'... where every private grain handler has an absolute cost of sales they need more value on resale to break even.

So the CWB was played off... at times... against the large grain traders. Buyers had sellers over the barrel.... because the CWB had no increased cost of purchasing large volumes of grain... where all others had to be the higher payer... to get the grain. Instead they (Private grain Co's) then were forced to hedge on a grain exchange... which in turn then meant the sale was transparent and the futures price rose to cover the sale.

As the CWB was exempt from these market forces by the 'single desk' buying law... If General Mills wanted 2mmt... they signed a paper and did not need to bid the price up to get this kind of large volume.

I had Wheat Millers literally laugh in my face... telling me I had to lump holding reserve grain for them (Via the CWB)... and then we be forced to sell at a much lower prices after the market sank again.

Governments are VERY poor managers of assets... as they confiscate our property... then have no real motivation to preserve or increase the value of those assets... as they can come back and confiscate more if 'it doesn't turn out' and there are large losses.

In fact to keep their gov system 'happy' the folks in charge of 'confiscation' of assets NEED to be Kept BUSY. BUSY with the job of Confiscating/Taxing.

You mean, uh, kinda like the Wheat Board forced
their way into organic. The Wheat Board hired
expensive useless staff, IMHO, who phoned
organic farmers to find out what organics did,
how hey did it, and who organic farmers sold to,
so the Wheat Board could then do it for us
because they considered us too stupid. And they
paid that extra staff from the organic markets
they stole by undercutting the organi farmers
                      using conventional farmer's money.

That's the Wheat Board just like you like them.

Oh ya. Well, they are still there, horse. Still
                      sucking up government taxpayer MILLION$$.
Same foreign CEO. Same snarky attitude. Same
adoring farmers who praised them for buying
ships secretly, EXCEPT for the troublemakers
you despise, ...you know...those border running
lawbreakers who have a "freedom" attitude.

                      You should be celebrating, honey.

We did and we are. Quit stalking. The divorce is
                      final. Pars.

                        I keep having a dream...
I'm in palliative care, and some sob in the next bed brings up these ghosts.
while he's sleeping I pull his plug.
I'm sure that for the rest of my life I'll hear that crap.
I'll bet your the same assholes that when you retire, you'll want maximum rent because " its only fair".
There are brief moments when I wish the CWB owned all the land too. We'd all still be using outhouses, but we'd all be "fair and equal".
My CWB supporting landlords just raised their rent to %25 of gross because their land is worth $3000/ac and they want to "share risk".
My landlords are decent people. At least their not pushing stupid shit in other peoples' faces.

Horse, we had only one grain company to market
and their track record sucks. Is that what has
happened in all the other crops?

I think you'll have to live a long time to see that.
