Jim Downey, the former Manitoba Deputy Premier today announced his candidacy for director for the CWB District # 9 in the up-coming CWB elections. Farmers need to ask what his position is on courting political parties using producers' nickels.
We already know what Bill Nicholson , the encumbent in District #9, says. He was one of the Directors who attended the Liberal Party of Canada fundraiser in Winnipeg ,and defended his actions saying, "We hope there will be some value in it for farmers in the long term". Maybe he made valuable eye contact with an Eastern Liberal. The true value for farmers though, was his $400.00 supper ticket which came out of the pooling accounts, but perhaps farmers could get better value from Nicholson at the annual Prime Minister's $25,000.00/plate supper.
I've never met Downey, but here's your chance to call him wedino, and ask where he stands. So will I.
