    Friday Crop Report!

Well I hope every one a safe and happy
harvest. Unfortunately we will not be
singing the happy song this winter. Oh
well you knew it was to good to be true.
Canola started swathing and if the first
quarter is any indication of things to
come Shit is it a disaster. 15 to 20
where the heavy rain from two weeks ago
lodged the crop. Twisted fricking mess
that has issues. All L150. So hope the
    RR does better.
Its a 3 to 4 on my scale. Late late in
area is really nice but it will take a miracle to make it. Just finishing
    flowering this week.
Durum has stabilized to probably finish
with a 7 but grade will be down.
Fusarium even if it had Prosario and
Tilt and every other fricking thing in
    the book.
HRS has stabilized and will come in at a
5 at best with straw for 60 plus.
Oats are still in the 100 range but only
    have a quarter.
Barley will be a 9 if it makes with no
    frost till sept 1st.
Rain this week is just over a inch with
the 3 tents the other night.
Cool temps have slowed plants down.
In area winter wheat is finishing, but
high humidity and rain have delayed
    harvest.
Peas harvest is also slow with rain most
    are desicated.
Some early HRS desicated and one guy did harvest a quarter near the valley.
So again have a safe harvest and
    basically their is always 2013.

Finishing swathing canola. RR seemed better than my L150. But the combine will be the test.

I have all L150 also and it looks a twisted thin mess, wasn't this stuff supposed to stand up? Going to be a tough go with the swathers when we start in a couple days. Later canola is better than early. Bayer rep still to come out to give me his 2 cents. Personally I think I should get 5 bucks a lb back. 55,000 dollars. Will likely go to a RR variety for next year. My wheat still looks pretty good don't see much if any disease in there yet thinking tilt would have been a waste.

In all my years of farming never seen Canola look so crappy compared to the wheat before.

Peas done. Low of 40 and a high of 52. Pretty much looks like a 45 average. Not bad but many fields were 60 plus stands. First large greens just a shade better than 30, #1 quality. This one shocked me as it was hail damaged at first flower and didnt look great. Into small red lentils now first 1/4 about 37 so pleased with that. Checked all the durum again this morning. Early stuff ready to cut in 3-4 days, later needs 2 weeks and will get the glypho treatment to finish it off. Canola all swathed but 1 which is 4-5 days away. Still optimistic it will make low side of 30 and high side into low 40's. Woke up this morning at 5:30 to frost on the roofs and apparently in the ditches yet low was only 3.5c. Best thing about 2012 is harvest will be wrapped here by mid september if the weather holds. Lots of time to get things done in the fall.
