    Lentils Aphids

Holy crap. I just went out and looked at my late
seeded Lentils and they are infested with aphids. A
lot of Aphids. I just thought I'd give you a heads up.
Where does a guy get Matador on a weekend?

I have to stop field scouting friday evenings. Dumb,
    dumb, dumb.

Didnt think aphids would hurt lentils. Think the
sprayer tires will do more damage unless you are
    calling the plane.

We sprayed for aphids last year as there were alot also.

How far away from dessicating are they? I would think that it would
only pay if they were still grass green and atleast two weeks from the
      kill.

I'm on the fence. Desicating will be 10 days from
now if we get this predicted hot weather. If not it will
be at least two weeks away.

I found out that the preharvest interval for Matador
in Lentils is 21 days. So based on that alone,
        staging has gotten too late.

Last year everyone in this area had to spray for
aphids in Lentils at late flowering. We were told it
was a once in a lifetime kinda thing. Maybe not.

We had to spray all are acres in 09,11,& this year
too. I have a feeling if you seed lentils the end of
may or later they will always be a threat. We
sprayed twice for disease this year so we put
          matador in the second pass.

I wouldn't worry at this time, they only
cause big damage when the feed on flower
buds, they can suck on pods all the want
            with little to no damage.
