New Crop Malt Barley Prices and Quality

Just curious on the malt barley front. Any contact from grain companies trying to source supplies? Prices being offered? Quality expectations for your malt barley crop?

August 20th a local terminal was offering a feed barley special for $5.25/bu the same day they were offering $5.66 for Metcalfe (malt quality)barley. A wopping 41 cents for malt quality over feed. For the quality parameters they demand, that is a joke. The feed price has since slipped to $5.00 and malt $6.06, a more reasonable spread.

Good luck to everyone out there who is trying for malt.(No sarcasm intended)

Nobody gives a crap bout malt. Feed
prices are good, plus no BS to contend
with. Apparently they kin make beer
without malt quality grain anyway.
Comedian beer mostly tastes like pooh so
