Guesses on the final numbers on Canola

Meter it on as you load your truck. A little more
difficult to do in January though. 3 percent
moisture added on a 42 tonne load at $14 canola
is worth the effort.

Wd9: why is it ok for the grain co's to dump extra
dockage and foreign material into grain at port
facilities? they are essentially doing the same
thing as adding water, making money out of
nothing. Just saying, why leave money on the
table especially when yields are low.

There was a well written article in the grain news
about this subject. It was a farmer who wrote it,
and the procedure was well detailed for
successfully adding water.
I don't recall what issue it was.

It is illegal to add water to any grain under the CGC Act. Unless you DO NOT want it graded and don't use the licensed elevator system that the CGC system regulates.

Adding water can cause contamination... bacteria, (What is your water quality) hot spots... mould... not fair to end users who are counting on unadulterated grain.

The CGC should do something about grain over 1.5 percent UNDER the crop average... like canola average is 8.5... seed under 7. should get a bonus payment. If the CGC forces growers to pay over 10 percent ... they should force elevators to pay under 7.

Use clean potable water. Tom4, do you think your
canola seed comes off the field in sterile
conditions? Place it in a petri dish, see what
happens

Tom are you off your meds, if it rains over night
and your moisture is 10. Did the big guy not pure
water on it.
