On the other side of the coin, a 4000 acre organic
farm has sprayed all their black dirt this summer.
I can only guess that there will be pretty yellow
flowers in that ground next season!
Thats approx. 120,000 bushels of organic oats
and 50,000 bushels of organic barley that have
left the building not to be seen again!

ColevilleH2S: Unless WE as Albertans receive a proper return for the exploitation of OUR resources then these corporations are being SUBSIDIZED. This is CORPORATE WELFARE and should not be tolerated.

If they need HEAT for extraction of the bitumen then perhaps they should use an alternate source such as atomic energy.

In my mind the use of huge quantities of natural gas in the extraction of bitumen is absolutely unforgivable. It is too precious a resource to waste.

Just a small patch of beans this year. The best
tasting ones. It was so wet in the spring, not
good planting. Lots of good paying markets for
ancient grains. Consumer driven. Demand high.
