No Dave I'm just sick of bs reports all year telling
us no worry aster yellows only cause min
problems, or other big crop bs. But we all know
test plots don't tell the story.
Some have good yields some average and some
below. But above average is totally fu$& Ed.

Really S3, I don't know why you farm. Yes, all the reports are crap but who really cares. You beat yourself up over all this continually, creating stress and no enjoyment of life. 35 - 50 miles west of you crops are coming off not too bad. Expected worse based on what you have been saying but seeing a lot better. It is next year country for some, and an ok year for others. Too bad it couldn't be great for all.

The markets will react when the deliveries stop, then the press will eat their words.

Sell the over priced "yard tractor" and go on a holiday.

Plots are representative of different
varieties all treated exactly the same
way. In my experience, as i am sure with
others, are quite representative of area
yields. Of the good farmers anyways.

We combined 90 acres of 7345 canola..Average is 22...Complained to the Dekalb rep. and she said "Oh but we have a NEW variety coming out next yr" so buy the New stuff and take a chance...

The BUYERS will drive up the supply estimates, to move the prices downward. Then BUY low, and store until someone calls SHORTAGES, then sell to the highest bidder. Most of the buyers from the farmers have their own flour mills, pasta mills, and crushing facilities so they will soak the Consumers and blame it on the farmers.

WD them little plots that they straight combine on the best part of the field are not quite what happens typically on the whole field and especially when a person does swathing. Or has to use a 40 foot swather. Etc. You know what I mean?

WD them plots are typically havested on the same day some varieties have a longer or shorter growing season. The taller one may have been trashed from the wind while the l150 may have been sc****d off the ground by a 3 foot header. Not typical of a farmers field.

I played the game of moisture conservation this year and it cost me. In my years of farming that is what I thought I should do.

And I agreee about sask 3 comment and Charlies article that viterra wants to get their share bid to pass. 1.8 percent profit on a 6.1 billion investment is not something I would just jump into, gotta be something more to it.

Not talking small plot. They're field
scale at least 500 to 1000 feet and are
cut by the farmers own 40 foot or
whatever foot swather he does the rest
of the field with.

Pioneer doesn't do competitors, or at
best one, Bayer keeps the ones they win
at, Dekalb is probably the fairest by
posting them all on their site
regardless who wins. Council just uses
the companies data but you can't compare
because there is no common check, its a
shit show. Don't think it changed for
this year either.

Best is to follow a local plot and watch
them all year. Get the data and make a
local decision.

No plots aren't perfect, nothing is, but
Hopper, care to suggest how to be more
fair/accurate?

divide by the acres.
