Big sky posted a miillion loss how much did agstability pay them?

Just reading that yes big sky is bankrupt, but the
funny thing that I can't get my head around is how
much money these clowns would have gotten
    from agristability.
See a typical farmer will see problems ahead and
cut costs and go without pay etc to stay farming
yet a useless government program kicks in to help
a company kee p struggling under a mountain of
    debt.
See the small mom and pop were thrown under
the bus and we now have shit. Te same in beef
etc. large land companies will be next. As long as
their was govt backing these big wigs can make it.
Why am I pisses well it seems 5 years of shit
crops due to mother nature and Again I get the
please f$&k off letter from agristability that I don't
qualify. My margin is dropping just a little each
    year.
Something is wrong, if you have a buisiness you
do everything in your power to keep it going not
stiff suppliers etc. how many farmers will not get
paid for feed again to big sky?
On another note pike bought Wigmor farms
before they went bankrupt. Hm one accountant
    buying another.

I have a feeling that your rumors of them getting a big gov't payment is false.

You bitch about getting your PFO letter from the program and 5 years of avg or below avg crops. Do you think there has been any margin created in hogs in the last 10 yrs? Very little imo! Sure there may be some negative margin coverage at 60% but there restrictions on that also.

When you are say you are getting no claims from the program does that agree to your calculations or those of someone that prepares it? In my experience and a claim in 2006 is you can't rely on the processing of the applications. Even more important in no claim years as they are just keyed and sent out. I think my accountant has sent more adjustments in non claim years than in claim years

Maybe you are not as good a farmer as you claim or think you are or you sinply have not experienced that big a change in your over all farm realized income.

For someone who is wealthy, with 60
quarters of land, and real estate in
Hawaii, etc. you sure get wound up!!!!

I have no idea if bigsky got
agstabullity or not, but you raise some
      good points...

So far I have 15 acres combined this
year. Waiting for parts as we speak. Be
glad with what you have maybe? I mean
this in the kindest way. I value your
input on this forum, big time, but
sometimes you have complaints some of us
wish we had... Cheers, my friend.

My question was still do you calculate what the numbers should be? Cause if you don't, there is guaranteed errors in every year

3, if you arent getting agristability all that means is
there isnt enough varianility in your income. I
doubt big sky got much of a payout cause they
probably made very little money to begin with.
Also it has nothing to do with family salaries as
they arent elegible income only direct production
expenses are. So the margin calculation is not
skewed by debt level, how much rent you pay or
how much you choose to pay your family
            members on any given year.

Your reference margin represents how efficent
you are at turning variable inputs into gross
income. This is in my opinion one of the only gov
support programs that makes any sense because
it is based on past performance so those who
have a history of good financial performance will
be more likely to get money from the program.

Bullshit those that didn't have their swaths blown away will have a better margin later. Who is the better farmer and because of this someone down the road will get a payout the next time a disaster strikes and the next guy won't.

Having your swaths blown away is no different
than having a wet year or having high weed
pressure. You make decisions on what to grow
how many combines to have what to spray and on
and on, luck does play into it but over time
averages prevail and those who make the best
                decisions have the best averages.

Question: What respectable business or industry
relies on government subsidies or handouts to
survive....or take the variability out of it's margin?

Surely those who have a history of good financial
performance are least in need of getting money from
                    the program?
Gotta love the socialist capitalists in western CDN
                    agriculture.

Yes bgmg my averages have stayed close to the
same but just dropped a bit in the last 3 to 5. Now
2002 willbe out of the equation. Who knows!

SF3 you will get your agri stability payment same
as anyone else. And probably Sf1 SF2, and
                        whatever corporation your accountant has
                        schemed up for you guys.
You will goto Hawaii this winter ...I am willing to
bet you have already booked flights.
                        Stop being and ungrateful ****.

Hobby it's a useless program. But what ps me is
again big sky will have taken farmers to the
cleaners. Farmers will get shit out of this
bankrupsy. Farmers who grew the food will not be
paid. It's not about me it's about us farmers.

Didn't this company also get a large chunk
of money from the province a few years
ago?One of the chosen one of the
                            provincial gov't at the time.
