No New Equipment Purchases for 2013.

Well were sick of all the BS with new
    Iron. Sorry Richie brothers sell
equipment and its no were near the price
    of New.
Just got our quotes for the three new
S680s and guess what were not going to
    trade our 9770s off.
I can go to Richie's next spring and
bring a S680 out of the USA with 200 hrs
for the difference and then I have 4.
But the dealer says Deere wont drop the
    price because their scaling back
production due to the USA drought. The
others arent so maybe their will be
deals on CIH or NH or Gleaner or Massey. OK no Gleaner or Massey.
But why has Iron doubled in price, all
the new shit isn't much better than the
old. Actually our new 7330 is way less
user friendly than the 7720 mechanical.
Cant see shit out of it and every time
you do something wrong you have to reset
    the computer.
    CTL ALT DELETE>
But after the shit show crop of 2012 as
a farm we have decided why the hell are
we purchasing over and over new higher
valued iron that isn't any better than
    what we have.
Dont get me going on a new bourgualt air
    drill.
So my question what are others thinking.
From what my neighbors are telling me
the dealers might be finding allot of
farmers not kicking tires this winter.

If we didn't offer our sprayer by the end of August e would he and missed the pre buy order and were told would not get one for next year. So I guess CIH sprayers are in demand.

My point is why are we as farmers feeding these
over priced products. Is the new sprayer any
        different than the old?
My new 4830 has had more trips to town than my
old 4720. My buddy who bought it hasnt had a
        problem all year.
I'm just thinking farmers are maybe going to pull in
        their ranes.
Just wondering. I think this foreign money from
Vancouver will dry up (sine their million dollar
home is worth way less), rents won't keep going
up, it's about making a dollar, maybe I'm old
        school.

Driving through the country, there seems to be a lot of new iron being run out there...especially the bigger operators. Machinery sellers will sell for what they can get, not based on there cost. Its worked up to now, and now they can focus on "high" grain prices.
As more independant dealers fall by the wayside, it will likely get worse.

Farmers do it do a couple reasons. The
neighbors do it, and they see that,
panic, and have to jump on the
bandwagon. Another reason, is that for
decades farmers have been told they need
to farm X amount of acres, and once they
get there, they decide they need new
huge iron to farm it with.

If we go back to 200 dollar an acre
gross like a few years back, with 2
dollar barley, 7 or 8 canola, 5 wheat,
who is going to be oh so screwed first?
the guy with the paid for 30 000 grand
combine, or the guys buying the half
            million dollar machines?

Size and efficiency only goes so far.
Farmers need to get back to the real
world, and get out their pencils, and
figure out how bigger is making them
better. In other words, is farming half
            the country actually more efficient
after a certain point? If a guy can farm
a couple thousand with good used
machinery, does farming 5 000 with new
iron actually make sense? We have been
told for years that more acres will
lower our costs, but in that scenario,
            is it true?

I can only imagine the amount of new
iron that will be in this area next
spring, after a single decent crop. Guys
are crazy, they are silly, they go koo
koo in the head if they get a bit of
            cash. Myself included, lol.

If it doesn't have 5000 hours on it, I don't buy it.
Good luck with the new / 2 yr old equipment. I
              hope you will be ok.

My bet is farmers will keep buying.

Reason is: In 5 yrs time when electric wiring for computors start to corrode and compuotrs crash, oil rings and valves wear out who will be able to trace problems and fix this stuff?

You can spend your money at the finance dept or at the parts and repair counter.

Cry me a fricken river. Gawd!

With a $30,000 combine you can do 1500
acres. What do you mean "we" SF3?

build a shed and put it in there. Makes that older equipt last much longer. anyways even a lot of smaller farmers now have already got these used larger not very old equipt. Think about who is going to buy the used stuff if there is no sale for used then new trade in value has to go up. And if you trade in a 1680 international for a 9120 internation there is actually a substantial difference in them machines. Going from 1 to 2 to 3 years will put oneself off warrantee on most machines now tractors are longer. Think the jd dealer was charging 120 dollars per hour now and plus 120 for the service call I am 20 minutes from town. So doing own repairs is a plus but good service men are great to learn from.

After having a custom guy in this fall
with a couple of TR98 that kept up no
problem with our 8120 I'm fairly convinced
we are getting fleeced with this new
machinery. The only thing the new stuff
seems to do better is burn fuel.

Yea when I filled the demo to head north, wow all
that fuel for6 hrs. I thinks the last guy didn't top it
                        off.
Custom opperators will work for extra help. But
don't trade three off for one or two big ones big
                        mistake.

I look at specs on a machine. The 9670 is the same machine as the 9770. The power is higher on the 9770. I buy the 9670 and run slower, no big deal. And for the price of a new one, I run two good used ones.

The 9500s were getting older and I don't like fixing but I could catch up to the green all the time.

Neighbor inquired about trading 8120 650 sep hours on a 8230 vs S680 JD the JD was $70,000 more. Just imagine if we had an .80cent Dollar. Holy shit. I too will be out of the combine market for a few years. 25% to 30% inflation on Combines in the past 2 years. What really pisses me off is 1 year warrantee way to stand behind your $400,000 Combine.

Don't think a tr98 is going to keep up to a 8120 unless there is no crop to fill the combine. My operator starts complaining about tuff crop when he slows to 4.5 mph in a 36 foot swath lol.
I do think the old tr98s were a good machine capacity wise in their day.
