    The smile says everything....

    Dear: "Industry"

I regret to inform you that the fairy tail has come to
an end! Cinderalla has lost her slippers. If you dont
want to look like a dirty little sister please go quietly
into the night and not disturb your soy perfect
    sister!!!

So are you saying what I have been seeing
all summer on the 4 fields by us. Canola
is going to be done with all its BS and
Soy will be come the crop to add to our
    rotation in Easter Sask!

I don't know about Saskatchewan but I doubt weather conditions in central Alberta would allow us to grow soy beans on any kind of consistent basis.

One tough year in canola won't be the end of it. Over the years it's been a pretty good crop to grow?

Will see another major cutback of canola acres in MB
also this coming year. Soybeans have been on the rise
and it will continue with canola now also competing
with wheat for acres. Wheat became a cash crop this
fall. Cost of canola production along with unproven
new varieties is causing the switch here. Some of the
new varieties have cost farmers huge dollars. Side by
side tests in our areas showed from 4-6 bushel
difference between L150 and 5440. Do the math!

Thats my point to why Canola is going to
be eventually done. The pigs took over
control of a great crop that we have
been growing for years and years. Then
said Hybrid is better we have better
varieties etc. Come drink our cool-aid.
Well this year the newest is 10 to 12
bushel less than the old disbanded
          variety. Thats the difference between
the L150s and 5440. Thats huge and its
been the same thing since the Rep
dropped a bag off as a test. I bought
300 bags of 5440 for 2013 the other day,
ps on L150 it should be 1.46 a lb not
          10.
Soy yes we will pay for seed but you
dont need 120LBS of N and 21 LBS of
sulfur to grow the same as 1971. I would
love to have a simple rotation of 3300
Canola 3300 Soy and 3300 HRS or Oats.

Seed companies only hybridized canola seed to
stop farmers from using bin run seed, there is little
yield advantage. I'd say yields have increased
over the years due to better seeding technology,
            and increased fertilizer use.

Soybean yields in mb running 35 to 50 bu, canola
will average 27 to 30. Canola days are
            numbered.

It used to be that we tried to grow as little wheat as possible on the farm. With the board around it was the lowest money making riskiest crop to try and make a living with. That distinction has now moved to canola. Agronomically speaking it is the most expensive and riskiest crop to grow. The expensive side wouldn't be such a big issue if it wasn't so darn delicate. But if every little thing isn't just perfect you don't get much of a crop.

Canola idea for framers. Seed companies
                  are always posting signs advertising
their varieties in framers fields where
really good crops are being grown and
                  seed plots heavily fertilized, like
5440, whatever trying to make ya think
ya kin grow a whole field of it. Why
don't framers take the bullsh=t by the
horns and post their own signs on a
really, really, poor crop that theys
grown, information on the signs might
                  show the retailers name, salesperson
infor and whether er not they stand by
                  their product.
Doing so however might give their
                  neighbours some information and keep
them from making the same mistake!!

I like that idea. "L150 yielded 27 bu on this field".
But the Bayer plot data down the road will
probably show a yield of 52 according to the data
they will release later this winter. I'm going to go
make my signs right now. Ha ha.

Is a framer even allowed to make his own sign like this crop variety sucked. Put it up beside the the l150 sign and say this crop actually yielded 25 not the 50 stated in the variety thingy.

Had a young guy swathing my L150 there in the end the guy was good operator but the crop ****ing laying flat on the ground. The combine operators were joking on the radio wondering if the swather guy was using the swather as a bulldozer or a swather. Real ficken story. The guy was a good operator I would not do better and then after swathing the green leaning shit stands up could fricken swath it again.

Wait a minute boys--- I remember last
November starting a post on 500 dollar a bushel
canola seed and a lot on here pounced on me
saying it was not over priced, and so great. Why
the change? Like a friend of mine says " That is
why God invented winter so farmers can heal"
Dont worry guys that saying is so true because
as farmers we are all short term thinkers. It will
all be fine come next April!!!

Is a framer ALLOWED to be on his own
property and post a sign. WELL maybe
not in Comedia! Of course ya kin post
yer own sign fu*kem, the truth is the
truth, only when yer tellin lies kin ya
get sued. I've seen seed companies come
out and remove signs on fields that got
shitter and shitter looking as the
                              season progressed. Truth in
advertising, I think not duhhhhhhh. We
are lookin fer the silver bullet and
will pay whatever when somebody claims
ta have it. Remember JACK & the
                              beanstalk?
