anyone else losing their internet service?

we are one of the 3% that clown from sasktel was refering to on Gormley on friday morning. We happen to one of the families effected by this moronick decission by sasktel to force rual residents to go to another internet provider. This exteremly attractive package she was refering to happens to cost us more money per month than we are paying now, for a service that won't work when its raining, snowing or what ever. I bet she has already switch over to xplornet! NOT!!!

What internet service did you have?
You mean Sasktel wants rural to use only xplornet?

The new explornet is availlable to All of western Canada now. It makes no sense to keep the towers up.

Was told by the installer that the new Satellite was worth 650 million and serves all western Canada. Does that mean Sask tel sells service all over western Canada now or is Sask tel only a part owner of this satellite.

Or are they just renting service from the Satellite.

Phone in to talk to Shaw about LTSS (Local Television Satellite Solution) and you will hear the ad for subscribing to Shaw Explorenet 20 times before you get to talk to someone about free equipment, installation and programming for local stations (for life).
Then for the rest of you who have satellite tv ; maybe you'd like to check your next bill for a 1.5% fee increase to cover the cost of LTSS.

I'd like to thank that majority for the free local TV. But since there are so few who have taken advantage of what they are entitled to through a Federal Government ruling; it really amounts to a lot of suckers being ripped off by a 1.5% increase.

            Thanks anyways. Nobody cares????

Anyways; enjoy your Explorenet; pay whatever they want and watch the service degrade as the usage and customer base expands; and the rate caps eat you alive (over time).

What everyone should be demanding is a real unlimited plan. Nothing else will serve you for what is available now.....let alone even looking at what will seen as necessities in the near future.

Anyone else able to see beyond their toes.

Here is my story. Many years ago I had the old
xplornet before sask tel was involved. Then I went
to your link. I could go on for days about the
crappy service with them and pricey.
The next adventure was with sask tel MiFi. What
they don't tell you is you can tether your smart
phone to your computer to get Internet. I finally
figured out why would I pay them 75$ a month for
mi fi and really get dinged if I went over my limit if
for 40$ a month for Internet I am already paying
on my smart phone will power my computer with
                almost unlimited gigs
I have been doing this for 4 months now and
haven't come close to using the allowable amount
of gigs on my smart phone. You think sasktel
would educate you On that ya right

So Shaw is in bed with Explornet.
Sasktel is in bed with Explornet.
Sounds like we have a monopoly on country internet and they are trying to charge toooo high a prices. I can see the city guys with their 25 dollar 30 times higher speed is ok but now we have a satellite serving all of western canada.

For your info Hopper, xplorenet is not really
available in the very south and south east
saskatchewan. It just pisses me off when i see
these great deals on internet and TV specials
for the people in town, and out in the rural we
just took a major step back. Who the hell
would of ever thought that SaskParty would
start to abandon rural Sask. That is a complete
kick in the nuts. Like one guy told me, "you
voted for them, should of done your
homework a little better before making the X".
This is just the start of there rural master plan.

Sorry guys. The reason for all fired up is that this
bullshit of data usage is a crook of shit. It was
meant for business use only. If the dam city can
have unlimited high speed internet, and the rural
not, I am sorry if you disagree but the dam
SaskParty is basically saying MOVE TO TOWN
RURAL PEOPLE, YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A BIG
                      EXPENSE.

My thinking is if a 650 million dollar satellite can serve approx. 5 million people at 60 dollars per month that satellite gets paid for 5.5 times per year not counting other expenses.

Checked into it the other day, and the new
xplornet only comes to Stoughton in the south.
Nothing from there to the border. I still do not
understand why some of you think 60 is such a
deal and in town they pay 45 for 5 MB speed.
