    Green seed in canola

Wanting to know what producers are experiencing with green seed in canola. Yesterday we walked into our first roundup ready canola and we are running about 5 to 6 % green. The frustrating part in this field was seeded within a day of our In Vigor and swathed within a day of the In Vigor and we have no greens in it. This is not the first time we have seen this. Lots of other producers in our area in same boat. Don't think there is a disease issue in the RR.

Zero green in RR or Invigor here.

      Craig,

I did my 10 samples, between 2gn and 14gn percent green ... the 14gn was down for over 4 weeks. Very dry conditions... and 32c temp during swathing (but swathed at night when dew was on) but the matutity did NOT seem to determine the green. Still lots of shatter on the ground under swath. Samples are hard to know if truck lots will be the same. We took in samples that looked and rolled out 6-7gn percent... and averaged 1.5gn when we hauled the whole field in.

Will it change in the bin? Some of the green is lime and on the border and may change some. 7 percent moisture and 48 oil.

We have 300 ac of straight cut to do.... plugs discharge beater... not nice at all especially since no frost to kill it. 13p moisture zero gn on truck lot we inched through. Hard to kill RR canola.

      Cheers

Need high humidity or light rain to change green count..If its dry combine it..

We had the same problem with rr canola last year,we left it lay until everything was done because of the green seed,it even got a couple of rains on it and it still never changed much.We were able to still sell it as 1 because we had canola from the harvest before that we just blended it all off.

Seen sample most 3 to 6 green but most
are lime green maybe change at bin and
true green likely 1 or 2 not much but
combine dry down to 7 to 8 percent mt as
remmond by Viterra to make sure it safe
level for now. Rest of shit canola will
be cover by crop ins as of hail and
aster yellow. Could not believe after
swath canola and there is many second
growth of aster yellow. Could be bad
              cleaning seed from seed company.

What r/r canola?? There is a huge diff between clorophyl levels from Dekalb - nexera - Pioneer
Also agree with posters above Seeding and swathing timing can also play a role regardless of systems.
Late seeded Nexera the only issue in this area.

                  nexera 0 green
L120 0 green. No frost issues, and swathed at 75-80% color change. Last year had frost, 2-10% green. Our straight cut canola this year, same story, 0% green

We "always" have high humidity, guess that is one positive about our weather, green goes away quicker.
Other crops are "always" slower to dry down though.
Saskatoon and back today, lots to combine yet, mostly canola, wheat.

Dekalb 73-15 short season. Last year was
72-35 short season. I think may go back
to last year 72-35 as it is low green
count 1 to 2 green and no aster yellow.
Understand is this year is hail.
