All of these countries own the oil and the big oil companies are just the hired help working for a fee?
Even Danny Williams cut a deal where Newfoundland gets an equity position in the wells?
Consider this: If we had taken the initial money in the Heritage Trust Fund and invested it in our own resources, and hired the oil companies to do the work, how much better off would we be?
Norway has a smaller oil field than Alberta and has saved up over $500 billion? Where is our $500 Billion.....in some oil company's pocket?

ASRG and Wilagro I have to agree with you but we'd have to go slow with this the bunch on this site.
They don't think there is anything wrong with China owning everything here... but if our own government owns it then its bolshevism

I do not think this deal will go through. I think cooler heads will prevail. Heard on the radio that the U.S. has strong objections to giving subsidized oil to China. Seems that some of Nexen's Gulf wells have close to zero royalties on them as well. Repubs and Dems are up in arms with this potential deal. I never thought that the american politicians had more brains than ours...
