    Crop rotations

What is the advice of the experts on crop rotations. I have a neighbor who has grown canola-lentils-canola on two quarters that boarders my land. I feel they are starting a real disease problem and who is held responsible when I have to deal with club root? This is one of those deals that the land owner lives in Ireland and the renters don't give a shit about stewardship. Any thoughts on this issue?

Hot potato there man... Guys that pay big rent have to try to milk it for every cent - very short term thinking IMO. Clubroot is only transfered by soil contact, not rotation. If there is oil wells or test plots from line companies with other equip - thats a far more high risk than rotation.

I'm more worried about wheat on wheat...

      Perfectly fine until you have
Fusarium.... Know all about it in MB,
guys used to seed winter wheat onto
spring wheat stubble. Worked for a few
      years then had 7% fusarium....

Starting to get that crap into the
Humboldt region now too.... 0.03% on our
      HRS.

I agree that I would be more concerned
          with Sclerotinia, and Blackleg as
disease issues, both more of an issue
with tight rotations, to a certain
          degree even your neighbors rotations
          with wind.

Klaus We have a test 40 acre patch that
has been HRS on HRS for 15 years.
Fusarium was 0 and its getting better
each year. Its where we put our grain
bags Seed in April or early May. This
              year it got 200lbs of 11 51.
              Interesting.
But the fields that our Calgary Boy has
or one neighbor of Canola on Canola and
every thing given to it. 8 and 10.
That rotation seems to not work.

And they don't give a crap of the long
term sustainability of a great crop. Well
                  put hobby.

This year the disease was bad around here. Now all the super duper zero till farmers have a joker in the yard and all black dirt again! I wonder how they are getting along scamming the carbon credit scheme they have been getting paid for no tilling? These guys, as good as they are, are dodgy bastards. You have to be a little bit crooked to get ahead!
