HR Wheat Varieties

Just wondering what everyone is growing for HR wheat? Looking for a variety that is a semi dwarf with good yield potential.

Will we be as hard on the Webster's dictionary where one of the definition is "semidetached house". What about a semi automatic rifle. Both seem a little oxymoronic. And so what if they are?

If it pretty clearly conveys what you mean ( or are the best words at your disposal); why not feel free to use whatever words you choose.

I grew Unity for the midge resistance. I should have grown something for standability. Unity was down flat after the first hard wind and rain and never recovered. Switching to something else next year.

What are the pros & cons to Goodeve? I grew that this year and had good success. Might have got it off before the real wind hit though! Bushelledd out well. Nice long heads.

We grow 5602 and this year 5603. 5603
busheled real real well. Unity looked ok
and yield ok but guess which one has midge
damage it. Yes its unity only one so far.
We will try 5603 again next year it was
seeded in early june so when the wind and
heavy rain storm hit it did go down.

I think this question is legitamate and an answer is do, what's you're opinion?
Your not helping, their wood be a proper answer if people wood use there heads.
Weather you like it or not you can't control the whether so grow a semi-dwarf.

Injr, any of the semi dwarf barley
varieties had semi yield characteristics
too. I fear its the same for wheat.

Grew Unity as well, about 1/3 of it lodged soon as a wind showed up after heading, about 80% stood back up. Still yielded well above average. Sprayed for fusarium and grading a #2. Neighbor had Harvest - not sure on yield - but stood very well.

Grew Unity and it lodged badly. I should have sprayed for fusarium as it is grading a 2/3 like everyone else in the area. This year, fungicide didn't improve grade but rather increased yield. 80 lbs N, 20 P and 15 S with Seedhawk - 35 bu yield. Any overlaps like V's around sloughs were flat. Even the 1' overlap was flat...don't have autosteer.

Grew 5603. Yield was good to excellent. Stood up even thru the big wind and was easy to combine. Will grow again

I had Goodeve and Utmost in this year. I
think the Utmost would have been better
for about 5bpa but it was flat on the
ground. Goodeve can be very hard to
thresh in these new combines, but stands
well and seems to come in early.
