Agrimoney had a story out suggesting strong barley yields in Alberta. Just wondering where that might be. In our area( Central Alberta) most producers are suggesting their barley yields were less than their wheat. Add in the reduced bushel weights( 4 to 5 lbs). Then add in all the lodging, regrowth and tough harvesting. Barley does not like wet feet and doesn't handle stress well. Come to think of it I don't either.

From my ears listening to others (Edmonton guy), Alberta yields are highly variable due to a whole bunch of reasons with the outcome an average crop (not a bin buster).
Heard the story of some poor farmer who had ordered a new hopper bottom bin to fill it with this years monster crop. He hadn't communicated this purchase to his wife. Mother nature took care of the pumper crop. He was trying to figure out where to hide his new purchase he didn't really need and avoid an uncomfortable explanation. Hard to hide a new bright shiny bin from your spouse.

47 lb barley, don't know yield as has to
measure at bin. 40% hailed on barley,
might be lower than local average.
