Sinse Bigsky and the outfit in Manitoba have declared bankrupsy was wondering about some of the others. So talked to the local mill worker and he said no problem our pork is priced from Japan and China which is different than here. Which leaves a bigger question why can one pork producer have such lucrative business while big sky has none according to him.. I am so scared to sell to the local even this morning big sky trucks all over the dam place. At least the truckers said they get paid before they work. This is the way we need to do business.

Hopper are you trying to get the humanitarian for the year award?
It's great to see someone donating grain so that those poor hogs got a free meal today! Thunbs up hopper!

If you are talking about Hylife - their production model is different from other companies due to the fact they own a packing plant. The old Springhill plant in Neepawa, MB. Better price protection if you own the whole chain rather than selling a commodity. Right now I would expect any hog producer wouldn't have a bunch of inventory - lots of people wondering if they will get paid.

Sometime they lock their prices in when they think its profitable same as we do with grain sometimes.

GustG - do you work for terrafuels? or on their board? Seems you like to bring them up often enough. you also sound like an infomercial. "so i called terrafuels and they saved the day...they are awfully swell guys there..."
anyways, what makes terra better than the next company. here in eastern Alberta there are lots of feedlots within a couple hours drive. until someone starts giving you a briefcase of cash on the scale i don't know how you can know 100%!

Westsider no not on board, nor an employee. Just
passing on a good experience. No feedlots
around here. Couple cowboys that are full up with
there own crop no pigs, almost called Oliet at
Regina I do serve on a board with the owner.
Called Allan Johnsson brokerage, but got a
message manager. Figured I would call those I
know.
I do try and do the infomercial thing for companies
that treat me, and others I know well. I'll repeate
this was light tough grain I needed moved ASAP.
I've delt with them before and they paper blend.
You mentioned a couple feedlots you do business
with. Care to name them? Or is it like your favorite
fishing hole, secret?

GustG- not trying to rock the boat, just a little frustrated with the state of this feed grain business. I was one of the many that got burnt by Newco grain and still a bur in the side if you know what i mean. found out these guys called a neighbor and tried to get him to sell his grain to them. He said he would call them back because the guy he was talking to sounded nice and he thought that would be more polite than what he was thinking. I just dont know how these guys think they are going to make a go of it and how they can actually call growers in western Canada. they should be ashamed and go find a hole and live in it.
as far as names of feedlots... alot of guys around here know who i am on here and would hate to list some and then forget to mention one. they are all listed on a website somewhere i am sure.
i guess it all comes down to relationships and rolling the dice.

You really don't have to roll the dice.
You can insure a sale. Our company is
just introducing a payment security
product that for very little cost will
make sure you get paid. Email me if you
would like more information.

Insuring receivables is nothing new. The problem
is the buyer's ability or will to pay. The
government has required companies to be
licensed and bonded in the grain processing
industry but has totally let feedmills carry on
without any security. None of the plans are
foolproof nor free.
Will farmers pay a fee for the service? Will the
fee be affordable?
