Insuring receivables is nothing new. The problem
is the buyer's ability or will to pay. The
government has required companies to be
licensed and bonded in the grain processing
industry but has totally let feedmills carry on
without any security. None of the plans are
      foolproof nor free.

Will farmers pay a fee for the service? Will the
      fee be affordable?

directag Could you explain how you can
collect from anyone when they are in
        receivership and under bankruptcy
protection? The managers have run it into
a situation where there is no assets to
pay anyone but themselves, lawyers and
        accountants.

This is something you do before you make
your contract. We qualify the buyer for
you and if they don't pay you on time in
full then we will. Cost is less than 1/2
          % on domestic sales.

Viscous circle here. Who does the qualification on you when you decide the "ouch factor" payout is too rich for your blood?

There will be no call. Better to roll the dice.

Westsider I thought more about how I operate
                my farm
All things being equal I chose to do business
with those that treat the Wheat Growers well.
                Check out.

Last year Terra Fuels put on a exalent tour
for 2 busloads of WG members.

I have never asked for special treatment from
any companies for the roles I play or boards
I sit on. If they treat me better than others
I guess that's up to them.

I have been using accounts receivable insurances
on my farm for 8 years.
IF YOU ARE TOO CHEAP AND CLUMSY OF A
BUSINESS PERSON NOT TO PAY FOR DUE
                  DILLIGENCE....YOU DESERVE TO GET
                  SCREWED...SIDEWAYS......TWICE.....

The insurance underwriters are Atradius and
                      Export Development Canada.

Study the direct ag sales website, all the
information is there. If you are afraid of them just
lookup another a/r insurance company that you
                      are comfortable with.

Or.....just "roll the dice" like someone said in a
                      previous post.

                        Another option that we've just
introduced to the industry is the risk-
                        free FarmLead Marketplace (found at
                        FarmLead.com). Here, sellers AND buyers
can post what they have to sell or what
they're looking to buy without having to
put any "skin" in the game. We do credit
checks on all our buyers and when you go
                        through the negotiation process, you'll
see whether or not your counter-party is
legitimate or not to deal with.

A similar rating applies to sellers as
well, where past users can let us know
if grain transacted on was in fact the
quality/grade it was indicated as. Thus,
there is a level of peer-accountability
that applies to the platform where if
you try to cheat it, you will not
                        benefit.

There is no subscription or annual fees
whatsoever. You can post as many offers
as you want. If you make a connection,
our service fee for using the platform
is a flat fee that varies by commodity.
Everything on our site is transparent
and you can find the Connection Fees
                        easily.

Why use the FarmLead Marketplace? It's
                        convenient, efficient, & productive. You
                        can continue your traditional marketing
ways but this allows you to be "on the
phone" with more buyers at any one time.
You can do multiple negotiations at once
                        - something not possible on the phone.

                        Ultimately, the FarmLead Marketplace is
more efficient, more competitive, & more
transparent. It allows for a coveted
                        direct buyer-seller connection and an
                        improved bottom-line for both parties.
