    Australia now has Issues!

Well it seems that Australia might now
only produce 9 mt of wheat instead of
    15. Gee markets don't care. China is on
a holiday so markets nose dive.
Australia had frost in Sept a few times.
So is their canola able to take frosts
maybe we should breed some into the Canadian canola if that's the case at
least that would make it have some
    value.
Mallee how is it down under.

You can thank the speculators for the
summer rally. They are the drivers of
bull markets. Their buying power pushes
grain prices far beyond their true
        fundamental value in short spurts
        offering growers fabulous pricing
        opportunities

        Without speculators, your farm marketing
opportunities would have never been this
        great.

        Count your lucky stars or don't . . . .

SF3,,, you have to ride those speculators just like a surfer rides a wave. There's a time to get on board and go for a ride, and when it's over, it's time to get off. It's great while your riding them, just don't stay on too long and go for the "wipe-out".
Spec's give us waves, and waves are opportunities.(up or down)

Yes Speculators are our friends. Even a bull has to take a rest. Bad news for those needing to generate cashflow before the new year. Spring is going to be interesting though, I don't think the demand destruction has been significant enough in Canola to avoid major challenges in the balance sheet come early summer. Canola Acreage growth has peaked in my opinion, and ending stocks are going to be squeaky. should start seeing some better basis levels soon.

i know my yeilds are low comapared to
candian yields but our costs of growing
                canola so so much lower.
but we had a 200 ha paddock expected to
go 1 t/ha seems its been zeroed out with
                frost.
My other 500 ha is untouched due to
topography, its not only frost ongoing
dry our last decent fall was august 13th
some areas got some rain last weekend in
nsw. the combine forum has a post yield
prospects australia which has some info
