The new crushing plant is 2014 opening. In listening to you, the investment Cargill is making is a bad one that will likely be unprofitable and you would suggest they put their elsewhere? Is this investment a good one or a bad for Alberta and farmers here?

Nope didn't say that. I said add in a new crushing plant.

That means even more demand for our canola. A good thing. But it also means more demand and requires more production.

No idea. How close are they to 100 to 110 day soybeans that could be grown in the black soil zones?

Soybean seed dealers have booked all the local seed supplies. Acreage will explode next year. You will be hard pressed to find yellow next year in the RR Valley or most of southern Mb. We will see how long it takes for crushers to change.

I've only seen one bean plot in my life time. I think they'll be crushing canola in Alberta for a while yet.

Burbert, if there is one thing I have learned it is
that those who think everyone is out to screw
them are often the people you have to watch the
                  most.

Do our resident experts on agri-ville believe that a reporter could actually find a "shocked" expert on the Canadian canola production number by Stats Canada for 2012?

Better yet, that Grainews would dare to report that the dominant US soybean market could actually rally on the damage to Canada's canola crop.

Geez, I think the sky is falling myth could be right.

"Export data was supportive for the
soybean market but more importantly it
                      was Stats Canada
numbers, which was negative 2 million
tonnes, that shows a degree of strength
                      in the oilseeds
                      complex," said Andrew Woodhouse, a
                      grains analyst at Advance Trading
                      Australasia.
"Corn and wheat are basically going
to hang around and wait for the USDA
                      numbers."
                      Statistics Canada said the canola
harvest was much smaller than farmers
                      expected and well below
                      last year's production, which could
shift some of the demand for the oilseed
                      to U.S. soybeans.
No our crop doesnt do anything.
The USA crop isnt great their Full of
Shit on how well it has done. Look at
drought page and yea crops grow real
                      well without rain. DAH.
