anybody heard anything? I was told somebodies brother-in-law's neighbors friend contracted greenfeed for $80/ton baled but in the field. Any other facts, rumors, or speculation? I am debating whether to combine or bale barley. (as well as reseeding my @!#%^ canola crop)

Where are you located Ron? A very scary period ahead for N./Central Alta. I won't comment on prices right now other than the market is trying to sort away given another year of shortage. I have major fears about the impact of current situation on cattle numbers. Cows sent to slaughter because no feed. Feeders sent south because of grain deficit. Medium term (1 to 3 years)this is not good for domestic consumption. I said elsewhere but my philosophy remains your best customer is your next door neighbor.

I am north of Red Deer15 miles. The cereal crops are looking okay but are 2-3 weeks late. The canola crops range from excellant to very poor emergence, most havent filled in to cover the seed rows yet. Hay is just starting to get cut. All the rains seem to stop at the Blindman river. Nothing to do but wait and hope for hail.
