Well most are caught up on spraying so its time for a little bit of summer.
Crop tours this week begin out our way with a Bourg seeding demonstration day and Pioneer seed day.
I like to take in one or two just to get maybe some pointers. Usually the top varieties in tours don't pan out in the field in most cases. L150 was the biggest dud. OH yea its gone for 2014.
Also farmers are driving around getting parts looking at equipment and holidaying with family. Yesterday did a drive to Moosejaw. Wow is the only way to describe the crops. Not wow in a good way.
Cereals look ok but the flooding from the farm progress show rain event is evident. Peas only one decent field. rest are not that nice. Lots of weeds. Canola no big leafs just trying to bolt and flower. A sign of way to wet.
Last year this was a big production area. Looks like it wont be a repeat in 2013. Its ok but not huge.
