    Things to Follow

    1)CWB PRO was released this pm. Mostly very similar forecast to last month. Durum and malt barley down the hardest.

    2) Markets rallying both sides of the border. Drought in western Canada is being built in. US markets are also starting to show concern about short term hot temperature forecasts.

    3) Wheat is starting to get interesting. Would wait for a bit of a pull back but may give some of you with a more speculative nature the opportunity to buy some calls/buy futures.

    4) Tomorrow is a big report both sides border. US spring crop acres/June 1 stocks released by USDA and StatsCan acreage report.

    Stay tuned

    Something else. Agricultural policy framework was signed by BC, AB, Ont., Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland. PEI, NWT and Yukon initialed pending their approval. SK, MB. and Que didn't sign. The next step is bilateral negotiations between feds and provinces that gets into specifics.

      Charlie,

      At our saftey net mtg last week, it appeared that we are cued up for;

      1. Enhanced Crop Insurance

      2. Enhanced NISA that is supposed to fold the old NISA, AIDA, and FIDP all into one NISA program on a margin base (like FIDP/AIDA) instead of net sales like the present NISA.

      The attempt is to take away the NISA savings temptation, and make this more of an income stabilisation program.

      Could be interesting to see how this all washes out for Alberta!
