    Friday Crop Report!

Well were mid month and finally got a little drink. 6 tenths in one rain. Total for year is now getting close to 3 inches. Could use another drink real soon.
HRS still looks good as most is in boot or headed. Big leafs and nice spikelet's. 16 to 17 or 14 to 15. Potential is their but its along way off. Prosario is going on on a few farms with lorsban added. Midge are really not present on nightly checks.
Winter wheat had winter issues and some seeded spring into stubble. Lets just say kind of a mess.
Soy loves the weather this year and is now up to ones knees. Lush green and looking really good.
Corn one neighbour has and it looks great growing real tall every day.
Canola looks better after the drink but when one looks last night at the pod development you can see we lost 5 pods before the rain. their gone. With one more rain it could be a average Canola crop for this area. Ugly fields are trying but cant seem to gain ground. One note probably the best canola in the province I have seen so far this year is just out side Edgeley Saskatchewan along the highway. Will be finished flowering by sunday and has height lots of pods and big pods. Seeded early and had proably 4 inches more moisture than our area. Lots have sprayed for disease in area lots are doing experiments with different products.
Flax is a 10 out of 10 on all fields wow is it nice.
Oats lets just say any early seeded is on way to be the biggest yield ever. Late seeded the heat hit at the wrong time.
Barley every one sprayed for disease this year and also again at heading. Very few fields but the ones out their are nice. Late seeded is awful due to no rain. Early is awesome.
Peas have began to get dirty with Wild oats flush coming on now. Podding nice but needed the rain a week before.
Over all the rain event was needed. More is still needed to finish this crop. I feel most areas are at least one to two weeks behind development. A early fall frost and we will have issues. BIG TIME. Be safe and enjoy the summer!
