1952 &1974! Any one remember what happened?

In 1952 I wasn't born yet but last night family was over and the conversation turned to Drews Forecast. 1974 I do remember We had a huge crop in the making then exhibition week it started to change from a warm summer to very cool nights. Dodged two cool ones then it froze. But I think that year the crop wasn't two weeks behind. Most of ours was seeded in mid may to late may. That's our regular time, when your going in June you realize you will have problems but may most should make it. Well that year it froze and harvest of plenty became harvest from hell. Also I think we were drying most of the #3 and feed that was produced.
So it was a wet fall.
Now back to 1952 what happened. They burned every single acre of production except a sandy 80 acre hill that became the seed for 1953. Nothing was in the heads (like most politicians) and a long hard winter and following spring happened.
Drew said the atmosphere changed about two weeks ago all bets are off on first frost date and most of august will be wetter and cooler. Slowing crop development. He mentioned similarity to 1974 but didn't link the two years.
Last night out side Regina it was plus 2. I guess the next 6 weeks Ill be up a lot in the night. Why did I by the weather station with a frost sensor. It goes off when it gets below 0.
    AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!
