Long gone are the days on our farm when we sold
through marketing boards and did most of our
business with other non profit companies. More
and more, we see ourselves as a business that
has to make a profit if it is to survive.
It is difficult to understand the mind set of farmers
who see themselves as otherwise and condemn
profits by other members of our value chain. It is
especially disheartening if they are among the ten
or twenty percent of farmers who do eighty
percent of the production.
