    Characteristics and Production Costs of U.S. Wheat Farms

    A pretty intimate look at US wheat cost structure/characturtics. A little light reading for this summer.

    I look forward to peoples comments as to how this compares to Canadian farms.

    Charlie,

    It is amazing that the US produces so much wheat when;

    "Producers in the Prairie Gateway, a major wheat region, produced wheat at an average cost of $3.63 per bushel, the lowest cost among regions."

    At 5.60/bu CDN, it is not hard to see why US wheat farmers must get more than "designated area" CWB producers...

    Since this was done in 1998, I wonder what the cost of production would be in 2002?

    What do studies say Canadian prairie wheat production costs?

      Attached is AAFRD cost of production site on Ropin the Web. We have stopped at the contribution margin area (direct costs only) so not 100 % comparable.
