For Immediate Release November 13, 2013
Wheat and Barley Election Ballots in the Mail
The Saskatchewan Wheat Development
Commission (SWDC) and the Saskatchewan
Barley Development Commission (SBDC)
announce that voters’ packages are being mailed
this week to wheat and barley producers for the
first director elections of the two commissions.
Sixteen producers are seeking seven positions on
the SWDC Board and nine nominees are running
for six positions on the SBDC Board. One
previously‐announced candidate for the Wheat
Commission has withdrawn.
Producers who have sold Saskatchewan‐grown
wheat and barley in the last two crop years will
vote by mail and must return their completed
ballots by Friday, December 6, 2013. The
commissions have extended the voting period by
one week (the previous deadline was November
29) to provide the maximum opportunity for
producers to vote.
“We encourage producers to watch for their
voter’s package in the mail and vote for the
candidates of their choice,” said Tom Steve,
SWDC and SBDC General Manager.
More than 25,000 wheat producers will receive
ballots and approximately 7,000 ballots will be
distributed for barley. Producers who have sold
Saskatchewan‐grown wheat or barley in the last
two crop years and do not receive a ballot may
request a voters’ package by contacting the
SWDC or SBDC offices. They will be required to
complete and sign a certificate of eligibility, and in
the case of a corporation or other entity, a
designated representative form, to be eligible to
vote. Further information can be found on our
websites at www.saskwheatcommission.com and
