Well the Canola Council of Canada got their wish. A steady strong supply of Canola for the Crushers and Exporters to move. Steady supply for our buyers.
Farmers get a crop that offers them a Discounted price now.
So what am I missing in all this. We farmers produced a huge crop that the industry told us they wanted and needed. We intern get a discounted price.
So now we have a crop that is the most expensive to grow on farm. This year if your doing a budget for 2014 you are almost getting close to just breaking even. Right now you need almost 22 bushels an acre to cover your basic costs of growing the crop in 2014.
So again I ask the question farmers what the hell have we done. We gave them what they wanted and were treated with a crop that doesn't make money.
Throw in a drought or cooler dryer year next year (Drews forcast for 2014).
