    flax seed

This is the year the Flax Council wants Growers to
use certified seed towards purging the system of
    Triffid contamination.

Ever since the problem was encountered I never
had a positive test. I continued to use my old seed
until last year when I changed and got some from a
neighbour. It was the same variety but not as old.

What I am wondering is, is everyone going to do
what the Flax Council wants us to do? I want to
source some new seed for this year. What bothers
me is I didn't create the problem but have incurred
costs because of it. Seed testing and now certified
seed. Also I did test every year except 2013
production and the place I sold it to didnt care
about test results because it is destined for China.
I'm glad prices have held up as well as they have
and wonder if all this was worth the effort. Will my
2014 flax production be worth even more after I
can provide the little piece of paper stating I bought
new seed proven to be free of Triffid. Oh yeah and I
will have to continue to test depending on which
market I go into. Today I prepriced some 2014
production and I asked them if they required it to
be grown from certified, they said no, not a
    requirement for their purposes.

Will the people who created this perceived
    problem please step forward.
