While you folks have a grain movement crisis it
seems Agriculture Canada is busy on more pressing
matters. Like repealing the Animal Pedigree Act !!
Not sure why as this rather benign piece of
legislation gives structure and credibility to our
purebred farm livestock Associations as well as
horse and dog Associations etc. The move for
change is not coming from the Associations, it has
worked well apparently.
Not a lot of cost involved either - something like 2
people, not full time on this. If cost was the issue
they could fire the staff, quit actively enforcing the
act but not repeal it. I can't even see a corporate
interest angle to this one either.
So as Ritz flies around the world allegedly "securing
market access" for purebred livestock back home
he is getting rid of good, cheap legislation that
enhances the image of and authenticates our
purebred livestock sector.
Can any of the Con. supporters or others follow the
logic of this move?
