    Value of wheat as energy

1 Bushel of Grain is Equivalent to:
    20.8 LITRES OF PROPANE
    13.6 LITRES OF FUEL OIL
    148 KILOWATT HOURS OF ELECTRICITY
15.9 CUBIC METERS OF NATURAL GAS

So why are we trying shipping it away on a non existent railroad when
transmitting that same energy down a powerline is much easier.

I don't sell these stoves, just using the tables for energy comparisons.
The real wheat cost would be 5$ today so that would make it close to
table value. Electricity is less, but not that much less.

A thread to discuss other uses for wheat then food. After all, our
business of farming is about energy conversion, to say we only grow food
is too restrictive. We capture the sun thru photosynthesis and maybe its
time to think a little harder about what we do.

Burn wheat to power nitrogen production to produce more wheat?

    Use ash as phosphate?

More efficient grain varieties to capture energy, not human nutrient and
    baking quality focus?

    Ag Canada funding?

    Energy funding?

No creosote produced from burning wheat - certainly less then coal, clean
    energy status and funding?
