"Dad passed away this morning at his home in
Calgary, with mom at his side." his son Spence
texted me at 8:18 AM this morning.
I was so lucky to know him so well, and work
alongside him on so many occassions.
Chris was the well-dressed gentleman at the bull
sales and cattle shows, dignified, and
knowledgeable. He believed in the importance of
each individual's strength and contribution.
Chris and Vera built the Aqua Hollow Polled
Hereford herd at Redvers, Saskatchewan, and
sold breeeding stock internationally He held an
annual production sale jointly wIth Walter Olsen,
in Arcola, Saskatchewan for many years.
While they were raising a wonderful family, Chris
continued to promote the livestock industry in
both Canada and abroad, and focused a lot of
energy, and time, creating the annual Canadian
Western Agribition show in Regina.
Chris made organizing look easy. He made
others feel comfortable. He was a manager as
well as a mentor to many, and both Chris and
Vera did it all with style.
Chris and Vera moved to Calgary in later years,
and their son Spence and wife Janice continue to
operate the original family farm
Chris had that kind of Saskatchewan grit that
gets a job done while making the rest of us want
to pitch in.
He was truly one of us.
May the Sutter family find comfort in knowing
Chris made Saskatchewan a better place to live
for all of us. Thanks for being you, Chris. Pars
