Do not fully understand how the system works.
Hope somebody knows it better and can explain
things.
Shippers order cars from RR and it goes in car
order book. RRs direct cars to shippers (by
corridor I presume ). Shippers then allocate cars
to different loading points.
What determines cars being sent to a 100 car
spot ahead of a 25 car spot? Is it freight rate or
something else?
What makes RRs favour one corridor ahead of
another? Does the car order book not mean
anything?
Can see why a shipper might favour one corridor
over another as in the case of paying demurrage
at port and no penalty for oats being late at a US
mill.
The revenue cap would seem to favour shipping
to US where cap does not apply.
Have some questions why either RR or shipper
worries about getting cars back to Canada in a
timely manner. Is there an incentive of some sort?
