could we not fight and think a little, before this govt. signs away
our future completely.
this does not have to be done.
other countries are refusing to sign .
there is a lot of scary stuff in there.
1 what are the royalties going to be?
and who sets them ?
answer , whatever the seed co.s can get away with
2 there is supposed to be some sort of open source breeding .
where you can work other folks materials
in that if you improve a variety substantially, you may receive a new patent . and slight changes will receive no patent.
so what is wrong with that?
well who gets to decide all this.
sounds like the same setup as the chem industry.
an old boys club that can say who plays and who does not.
and has netted them triple the world price for the last 15 years.
look what has happened in canola.
expect more of the same in cereals.
1. does any one see an end to the
rise in seed costs. 1100-1500$ a bushel now.
2 the manipulation of conventional
canola herbicide prices , to make it uneconomical to grow.
.3 banning farmer use of seed treatments for canola.
4 old variates de listed
another factor

before at least if you had enough with the
canola costs, you could grow the other.
not now.
if they have all the choices locked down.
you have to go to them.
you say well , i will just grow
old free varieties.

and again they control the chems, to point you where ever they want
and i still say , that this much market power and control actually ,
kills innovation.
your the boss, farmers have to come to you, to plant anything.
you really do not have to come up with anything better.
you can collect your royalty every year forever on the same old crap.
it is simply divide up the market
and let the money roll in.
i am sure ,it will be passed.
but
when your kids and grandchildren
ask you , what were you thinking .
you can not say you were not warned
