I am very much a supporter of the free
market however the CWB should be given to
a farmer run board of directors and all
producers who wish to sell through it
should do an equity buy in.
This new CWB should retain the ships and
rail cars of the old CWB and begin
working with independent terminals and
raven build their own.
No special treatment compared to any
other grain Co but it's ability to remain
100% farmer owned needs to be enshrined
in law so the short sightedness of a few
can't undo it again.
That way all the capital western farmers
paid for will be there along with having
another competent player.
If they align themselves with FCL or CHS
they can offer inputs in coop fashion
along with grain services.
Sort of like the old pools but modern
lean and efficient run by a competent
management team.
