    Seeding Intentions 2014!

Well after this long cold winter that caused CN and CP not to be able to ship our grain, Spring is here. HA HA HA HA.
Really coldest in his 25 years in Canada.
So we have adjusted our seeding plans a bit.
Canola Down by 12% due to rotation.
Wheat same as last year, No Durum or CPSR just spring wheat.
Peas are same due to rotation.
Soy will be up by 30% but its a smaller acreage than canola on our farm. Still $12.50 last year even at lower yield makes you wonder what's going on with canola.
Barley will be up 40% but in cereal acreage its up a quarter.
Oats will also be the same as last year.
Corn we will be trying a smaller 40 acre plot as it stands now, this could change.
In our area their is land that has come available and it is $75.00 an acre, no one has picked it up yet. North of us their is also land available but it should be rented for half the price but guys are playing the poor price have to give you 20 card and pay in fall.
Seems some big hitter from the past are now trying custom farming, that will be interesting.
Fertilizer in our area is slow arriving. Phos is problem. Still lots of guys just picking up their fertilizer or still haven't purchased any.
Some Canola seed has been Canceled and believe it or not their are a few guys who aren't going to seed very much this year. Yes that's right as it stands right now we have guys that are going to chem fallow and not seed a acre. Time will tell, Seeding is still a month or more away.
We are sitting on lots of snow yet no stubble sticking out, seems every storm gives us a little snow each time..
So what are others seeing in their area and what are the seeding plans.
