Snowfall - early morning to after midnight Saturday.
Snowfall, with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected.
A storm system developing over southern Alberta this evening is forecast to track across southern Saskatchewan overnight through Friday into Friday night. This system is expected to bring in a large area of precipitation across southern Saskatchewan over the next 24 to 36 hours. Precipitation is expected to spread in tonight across western Saskatchewan as an area of snow which may mix with or change to freezing rain overnight as milder air aloft moves in. On Friday snow will intensify over the warning area, especially for areas along and north of the Yellowhead highway. For Saskatoon, indications are that snow will mix with or change to rain in the afternoon which should hold down snowfall amounts to about 5 cm. However, for areas north and east of the city, heavier snow is more likely. Snow will continue into Friday night before tapering off from west to east. In total, 10 to 20 cm of snow is possible over the warning area by Friday night. This will likely impact higway travel in these regions for the start of the holiday weekend, so the public is advised to monitor local weather and highway reports before travelling.
Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
