    Custom Silage

Was just wondering what the going rate for custom silaging is, minus the swathing? Also what is a reasonable price for a tonne of silage, canola in particular?

Rates this year as far as i can tell are $250 per hour chopping with 2 trucks. I am paying $15 per ton for some canola silage that I have bought. After paying that and by the time I get it in the yard, its around the $35 mark which is lots.

Thanks for the info. How many tonnes or tons are in a average Jiffy dump load?

Sorry to take me so long to add to this. My wife talked me into a holiday.

In the High River area, feedlots are paying around $8.80/tonne for swathing, cutting and hauling silage up to 5 miles. I can't give anyone a price for just cutting and hauling.
