    Friday Crop Report

Last week was a low point in a very long string of wet springs. I honestly cant remember seeding into nice firm end to end fields. Seed to dust the bins will bust vs Seed to Mud its a Dud. So yes those that always jump on every thing I say got the best of me.
When I give a report it is a general report from Regina to Canora Saskatchewan. Its the area I farm and Live all growing season. I love farming and every aspect of it. I believe we need smart farmers. But in typical Canadian fashion cutting down others to make some feel better works.
Well one thing is for certain I would never make it as a politician, I have thick skin but wow haters are tough to take.
So yes Ill continue to post. I throw up topics for discussion its not about my farm, haters get that through your skull.
    Friday Crop report!
Seeding has ended on most farms in the area. Basically after years of this shit their comes a day that you just pack it in and quit. We were able to finish on Sunday with oats.
Yes yesterday a few of us counted some 20000 acres by one guy to seed and another 12000 by another guy. Maybe they did take on to much.
Unseeded acreage is higher than the trade expects. You don't have to drive that far in our area and see fields left unseeded. This area is a continuous cropping area no one Summer fallows.
Wheat that was seeded early is looking awesome. Most missed a burn off due to wet cold conditions and need to get it sprayed. The five day looks bad and some fields will have weed issues if the rain does come.
Peas every field in the area looks great. But the last rain must have took the land back to water capacity because their are yellow spots showing up.
Canola looks great, their was minor frost that took out some plants. Flea Beatles are all over the map. We sprayed the first half section we seeded. But that's it plants are big enough to get past. Spraying is getting behind on Liberty fields due to extreme winds lately and cold.
Barley and oats did take a hit with cold. They have a yellow tinge but should make it.
Soy is in the ground and just popping out. Don't like the cold ground this year so first pods will be lost probably. One neighbour seeded his May 18, thinner than I like and frost did set back.
Flax looks great on most farms. Seeding thicker is the new trend. Our area will be a sea of blue in early July, Not yellow this year.
Overall the wind and cold and moisture have all had a great impact on the crops grown in our area this past week. We need heat and lots of it.
Be safe and have a great week.
