Lets see who knows what's going to happen this year on the farm.
I will start by saying I feel this years crop will be way smaller than last year. The Floods will continue to do damage and the summer will be cool.
Throwing every thing at this crop to get it to the bin will happen because we have to. Finally it will be a long wet harvest of a very poor crop.
Prices from all accounts just don't seem to want to move higher. The USA has their worst winter wheat crop in decades yet prices drop. Their bragging corn and soy but not sure why. Lots of flooding happening down their also.
So final outcome for Canadian Farmers is poor prices and very poor yielding crop with no government support since the Agstability was gutted. Oh yea also throw in Grain Companies who convinced guys to sign contracts with huge basis levels to get rid of their old grain. Yea Winner for grain companies loss for farmers.
Happy farming but this is why I'm predicting for 2014. Have at it boys lets see who is close by January 1st 2015.
