We are always trying to outguess the
      market aren't we? Always pessimistic
      about production and optimistic about
      price!

Sask99 it's just everything is MNP! Their definitely
not God! Think for your self! If you got a crop lock
in but our area we were hours away from loosing
this crop on August! I lost a smArt ass friend who
believed he never would loose a crop he lost 5000
flax and his farm. Shit happens but great you got
huge yields, rember our area is on its way back if
          the weather patterns stay!

I went to a farmer thing a few years back
and a farmer worked for mnp. He put up
his cost of production on an overhead to
            discuss production and price planning.
Most guys could not believe how much
he was spending on inputs. He did show
that volume made profit better on low
prices and/or poor quality from frost.
I recall after that session some farmers
conclusion was that mnp guy was just
showing off. His numbers were real and
costs were higher than i would have
            anticipated.
I think he was from Melfort area. Very
practical man, his marketing plan showed
he was profitable, some margins were
very small on some crops but all was
black ink. His goal was basically to be
farming the next year. It was a very good
            education for me.

Just some canola math. This year
              50bux$11=$550.00 gross. Last year
              30bux$14=$420.00.

How about 38X $10=$380 (could be even less$$/Bu)
                  Last year shitty crop, 25X14.50=362
Not much better this year for a lot of farmers.
Disappointing yields on June seeded canola many under 40 in our area.

99 is correct about 2 things if you have an
accountant with farm background is better and
the second is fbc service is all crap i am no
longer with them. Better off using the guy at
the mall. If fbc did not solisit door to door
they would be out of business. Their salesmen
are good could probably sell a fridge to an
eskimo. Although when it comes to marketting
approach any advice with caution. I once talked
to a farmer that figured he got good advice from
the higher up guys at bunge well we can all
understand how that ended up. Basically lost
                      his ass from advice.
